Medan – FKM USU: The Faculty of Public Health, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FKM USU), held a socialization session for the Independent Internship Program under the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) initiative on Thursday, June 25, 2026, via Zoom Meeting. The event was attended by the Vice Dean for Education, Student Affairs, and Alumni Relations, heads of study programs, lecturers, faculty partners, and students. The session aimed to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of the internship program, including its implementation procedures, eligibility requirements, course credit recognition, and the benefits of participating in the program as a means of enhancing students' competencies and career readiness. The Vice Dean for Education, Student Affairs, and Alumni Relations of FKM USU, Sri Rahayu Sanusi, S.K.M., M.Kes., Ph.D., explained that the Independent MBKM Internship is conducted over one academic semester, carrying a workload of up to 20 credit units (SKS) and requiring a minimum of 900 hours of effective work experience at the partner institution. She also emphasized that internship placements are available across various disciplines within public health and nutrition. In addition, Boy Tobing, a representative of BPJS Ketenagakerjaan Medan, highlighted the importance of social security protection for internship participants through enrollment in the BPJS Ketenagakerjaan employment insurance program. The Head of the Undergraduate Public Health Study Program, Dr. Ir. Evi Naria, M.Kes., further presented the procedures for course credit recognition, the requirement to prepare an internship proposal, as well as the supervision and reporting system throughout the internship period. The event featured an interactive discussion session in which participants explored various technical aspects of the program, including credit conversion, administrative requirements, and the expected internship deliverables. Through this socialization program, FKM USU hopes that students will be well prepared to participate in the Independent MBKM Internship Program, enabling them to gain more practical learning experiences, strengthen their professional competencies, and enhance their readiness to enter the workforce.
