Medan – FKM USU: The Faculty of Public Health, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FKM USU) attended the “Meeting with USU Leaders” as part of USU’s collaboration with the SingHealth Duke-NUS Global Health Institute (SDGHI), Singapore. The meeting took place on Tuesday (20/10/2026) from 08:30 to 10:00 WIB in the Equity Meeting Room, 3rd Floor of the USU Rectorate Building. It was part of the USU Planetary Health Days 2026 series, held on 20–21 October 2026.
The meeting was attended by leaders from the Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Public Health, Faculty of Agriculture, Faculty of Forestry, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology, and Faculty of Engineering. Also present were Dr Sri Malem Indirawati, S.K.M., M.Si., Vice Dean for Research, Community Service, Cooperation, and Internationalisation at FKM USU; Dra. Syarifah, M.S., lecturer in the Undergraduate Public Health Program; and Dr Eka Lestari Mahyuni, S.K.M., M.Kes., lecturer in the Master’s Program in Public Health. The event results from international collaborative research by Dr Eka Lestari Mahyuni, S.K.M., M.Kes., funded in 2025, titled Towards Health and Sustainable Agriculture: Implementing Precision Technologies to Improve Health Outcomes. The research contributes to implementing healthy, sustainable precision agriculture technologies to improve farmers' health and well-being.
Based on the research results presented by Dr Eka Lestari Mahyuni at the meeting, it is hoped that the work can grow into follow-up research. This research could be started together with lecturers from other fields, such as the Faculty of Agriculture, Faculty of Forestry, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology, and Faculty of Engineering. For this reason, USU Planetary Health Days 2026 also includes an International Symposium and a field trip to Dr Eka Lestari Mahyuni’s research site, a green honey guava orchard in Langkat Regency.
This meeting is a strategic forum to expand opportunities for international cooperation. It does this by building global knowledge and supporting the planetary health program. The collaboration supports SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) by strengthening health research that accounts for environmental conditions. SDG 13 (Climate Action), by studying how environmental change affects health. SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), by strengthening international cooperation between USU, FKM, and SDGHI.
