Medan – FKM USU: FKM USU, in collaboration with the USU Research Ethics Committee, held an online webinar and information session via Zoom on Monday, June 22, 2026. The event, themed “Fundamental Principles of Research Ethics Involving Human Participants,” aimed to enhance the academic community’s understanding of the importance of applying ethical principles in health research. The event began with remarks by the Vice Dean for Research, Community Service, Cooperation, and Internationalization of FKM USU, Dr. Sri Malem Indirawati, S.K.M., M.Si., and was officially opened by the Chair of the USU Research Ethics Committee, Prof. Dr. dr. Dina Keumala Sari, M.Gizi, Sp.GK, Subsp.PK. The main presentation was delivered by Prof. Dr. dr. Juliandi Harahap, MA, FISPH, FISCM, Sp.KKLP., who discussed the fundamental principles of health research ethics, the protection of research participants, informed consent, and potential risks in research involving human participants. The presentation and discussion session was moderated by Inayyah Nur Fitry Sirajuddin, S.K.M., M.Kes., a lecturer at FKM USU. Through this event, members of the academic community are expected to gain a deeper understanding of the importance of research ethics in safeguarding scientific integrity, ensuring the credibility of research findings, and protecting research participants. The event also supports the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3: Good Health and Well-Being by promoting responsible and ethical health research.
