Medan - FKM USU: FKM USU held a webinar on "Strategies for Improving Food and Nutrition Security in Families to Support Children's Growth and Development during the Covid-19 Pandemic" on Friday, October 23, 2020. The guest speakers for this event were Ir. Doddy Izwardi, M.A., Head of the Center for Research and Development of Public Health Efforts, Agency of Health Research and Development (Badan Litbangkes), and Dr. Dra. Jumirah, Apt., M.Kes., Lecturer at the Department of Nutrition of FKM USU. The webinar, moderated by Dr. Ir. Etti Sudaryati, M.K.M., Ph.D., Head of the Master's and Doctoral Program at FKM USU, was attended by 1,286 participants from the FKM USU academic community, alumni, and other health education institutions. In her opening remarks, Prof. Dr. Ir. Albiner Siagian, M.Si., Head of the Department of Nutrition at FKM USU, stated that one of the issues society faces due to the COVID-19 pandemic is nutrition and children's growth and development. Therefore, there is a need for community-level interventions to raise awareness about the importance of supporting children's growth. In the webinar, Ir. Doddy Izwardi, M.A. discussed topics on "Innovations in Food and Nutrition Security for Families," while Dr. Jumirah presented on "Food Diversification to Boost Immunity and Support Children's Growth and Development." The webinar was officially opened by Prof. Dr. Dra. Ida Yustina, M.Si., the Dean of FKM USU.
