Medan - FKM USU: FKM USU organized a mangrove planting activity involving 1,000 mangrove saplings as part of a project-based learning activity for the “Disaster Management” course in Kampung Nipah Village, Tanjung Beringin Subdistrict, Serdang Bedagai Regency, on Saturday (June 13, 2026). In addition to fourth-semester undergraduate Public Health students, the event was attended by the instructors for the Disaster Management course Prof. Dr. Dra. Ida Yustina, M.Si, and Fadilah Aini, S.K.M., M.Kes along with local mangrove managers. The activity aimed to collectively protect coastal areas from disaster risks and is expected to help preserve the coastal environment for future generations. The event proceeded smoothly and was filled with enthusiasm. FKM USU involvement in the mangrove planting initiative demonstrates its commitment to supporting environmental conservation particularly in coastal areas and encouraging the younger generation to care more about the future of the Earth. This aligns with the goals of SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) by improving the quality of the coastal environment and reducing disaster risks that impact public health.
