Medan – FKM USU: Five lecturers from the Faculty of Public Health, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FKM USU)—Ir. Indra Chahaya S., M.Si., Prof. Ir. Etti Sudaryati, M.K.M., Ph.D., Drs. Tukiman, M.K.M., Dra. Syarifah, M.S., and Dr. Eka Lestari Mahyuni, S.K.M., M.Kes.—received patent certificates on Friday (January 30, 2026) at the Hall of the Institute for Innovation and Intellectual Property Management (LIPIHKI) USU.

The certificates were presented by the Vice Rector for Information, Planning, and Development, Prof. Dr. Drs. Opim Salim Sitompul, M.Sc. In 2026, FKM USU secured seven patents, including five national inventions and two international inventions.

The lecturers who received Domestic Patent Certificates include:

  • Ir. Indra Chahaya S., M.Si. with the invention “Natural Larvicide Product from Castor Bean Powder (Ricinus communis) to Kill Aedes aegypti Mosquito Larvae.”

  • Prof. Ir. Etti Sudaryati, M.K.M., Ph.D. with the invention “High-Protein, Iron, and Vitamin C Biscuit Formula with the Addition of Pumpkin, Moringa Leaves, and Peanuts.”

  • Drs. Tukiman, M.K.M. with the invention “Process for Producing Paper Soap Made from Tofu Waste Extract.”

  • Dra. Syarifah, M.S. with two inventions:

    • “Red Goatfish Meatball Formula (Upeneus moluccensis) Enriched with Moringa Leaves (Moringa oleifera) to Address Stunting.”

    • “Eco-Flex Bottle with Flip-On Mechanism and Anti-Slip Grip.”

The two international inventors are:

  • Dra. Syarifah, M.S. with the invention “Portable SOSA Bottle Containing Lysol for Disinfection of Mycobacterium tuberculosis in the Sputum of TB Patients.”

  • Dr. Eka Lestari Mahyuni, S.K.M., M.Kes. with the invention “Anti-Aging Cream Formula Based on Ethanol Extract of Acem-acem (Oxalis dehradunensis R.) Leaves.”
