Medan - FKM USU: The Faculty of Public Health at the Universitas Sumatera Utara (FKM USU) held a Student Competency Development event through the PT Regal Springs Indonesia Internship Program on Monday (July 27, 2026) at the FKM USU Auditorium. This event is part of a collaboration between the FKM USU and PT Regal Springs Indonesia to support the development of students’ competencies through real-world industry experience. A total of 28 students participated in the event, consisting of 15 students from FKM USU and 13 students from the Faculty of Engineering. The Associate Dean for Research, Community Service, Collaboration, and Information, Dr. Sri Malem Indirawati, S.K.M., M.Si, in opening remarks stated that this event serves as a platform for students to gain insights into career development opportunities and professional work experience through the internship program. In addition, Ms. Nilawati, HR Assistant Manager for LBN at PT Regal Springs Indonesia, outlined the various benefits participants could gain from the internship program, including financial compensation, the opportunity to gain hands-on work experience, the development of technical and non-technical skills, and a better understanding of the culture and needs of the industrial sector. PT Regal Springs is an integrated aquaculture company in Indonesia specializing in tilapia farming. Interviews were also conducted during this event as part of the selection process to determine the five top students who would participate in the PT Regal Springs Indonesia Internship Program. The selection results were announced on August 3, 2026, and two students from the FKM USU—Andi Rafael Simorangkir and Ririn Marsela Siregar—were selected and immediately began the internship program. Through this initiative, FKM USU hopes that students can enhance their employability, expand their professional networks, and contribute effectively to the industry. This initiative also supports the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 4 and 17 Quality Education and Partnerships for the Goals, particularly by improving students’ technical and non-technical skills to prepare them for the workforce.
