Medan – FKM USU: The Undergraduate Public Health Program at FKM USU held a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) on Wednesday (August 6th, 2025), as part of its curriculum revision process. The FGD, conducted virtually via zoom, was officially opened by the Vice Dean I of FKM USU, Dr. Umi Salmah, S.K.M., M.Kes., who outlined the direction of the curriculum revision for the undergraduate program. The FGD was attended by the FKM USU Quality Assurance Task Force, the curriculum revision team from the Public Health Undergraduate Program, various stakeholders, institutional partners, and graduate user representatives, including: the North Sumatra Provincial Health Office, the Medan City Health Office, the Medan Center for Drug and Food Control (BBPOM), the Medan Port Health Office, and PT. Toba Pulp Lestari Tbk. The discussion was moderated by the Head of the Undergraduate Public Health Program, Dr. Ir. Evi Naria, M.Kes., who, in her opening remarks, stated that the main objective of the FGD was to gather input from stakeholders regarding the alignment of graduate competencies with the graduate profiles set by FKM USU, the needs of the labor market, and the implementation of impactful internship programs. This FGD is expected to help identify the extent to which the current curriculum meets the demands of a dynamic job market. The insights gathered from the discussion will serve as a foundation for the upcoming curriculum review process. Participants provided various strategic inputs, generally emphasizing the need to strengthen non-academic (soft) skills, enhance technical competencies, and improve digital literacy among Public Health graduates of FKM USU.
