Medan - FKM USU: FKM USU participated in the Tree Planting Campaign organized by the Faculty of Forestry USU to commemorate World Environment Day on the Faculty of Forestry are in Kuala Bekala, Medan, on Friday (June 5, 2026). The event was attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Forestry, lecturer and student representatives from the Faculties of Forestry and Public Health, as well as several environmental activists from North Sumatra. Approximately 50 tree seedlings were planted, including various native species such as the Toba pine and multi-purpose plants with potential as sources of food and energy. Environmental activist and Kalpataru Award recipient Marandus Sirait emphasized the importance of consistency and commitment in preserving nature and expressed his hope that this tree-planting initiative could be carried out annually as a form of responsibility toward the environment and future generations. The event proceeded smoothly and with great enthusiasm. FKM USU’s participation in this event demonstrates its commitment to supporting environmental sustainability and fostering awareness among the younger generation to care more about the future of the Earth. This aligns with the goals of SDG 13 (Climate Action) and SDG 15 (Terrestrial Ecosystems) through reforestation and ecosystem restoration efforts.
