Medan - FKM USU: Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) lecturer Prof. Dr. Aniza Ismail, who is an adjunct professor at FKM USU in 2024, gave a public lecture with the theme "Pertussis Re-emerging Infectious Disease and Vaccine Hesitancy", Wednesday (22 May 2024) at the Auditorium FKM USU. The material presented by Prof. Aniza is related to the pertussis outbreak that is still occurring around the world. According to her, the increase in pertussis cases was due to public doubts about vaccines which resulted in refusal of vaccination. Prof. Aniza further stated that the main prevention of pertussis is by screening, vaccinating and educating the public about pertussis. This public lecture was moderated by FKM USU Lecturer Dr. Dr. Taufik Ashar, M.K.M, followed by FKM USU students at all levels (S1 Public Health, S1 Nutrition, S2 and S3 Public Health Sciences).
