Medan - FKM USU: FKM USU academic community carried out Mangrove Mission 1000 Community Service (PkM) activities with the theme "Planting Mangroves to Protect the Beach" at Serambi Deli Beach Dusun 4 Paluh Sibaji Village, Pantai Labu District, Deli Serdang Regency, Wednesday (26 July 2023). This activity aims to preserve the coastal environment and prevent beach abrasion through the action of planting 1,000 mangrove trees and cleaning the beach of plastic waste. Vice Dean I Dr. Umi Salmah, S.K.M., M. Kes, who attended the activity with the Pemerintahan Mahasiswa (Pema) of FKM USU, said that Mangrove Mission 1000 was the implementation of higher education's tridharma. This activity was welcomed by the Head of the Paluh Sibaji Village Government Service Section, Agus Salim Sirait, S.Pd. His party expressed his gratitude to FKM USU for his concern for the abrasion that occurred at Serambi Deli Beach. Serambi Deli Beach is one of the beaches that has received a serious threat from abrasion, while its beauty is littered with large amounts of plastic waste that has been washed ashore. PkM Coordinator, Dr. Sri Malem Indirawati, S.K.M., M.Sc. on that occasion gave directions on how to plant mangrove trees. This activity is expected to inspire more people to care and be actively involved in efforts to preserve the environment, especially the coast.
