Medan - FKM USU: The Dean of FKM USU (Prof. Dr. Dra. Ida Yustina, M.Si) along with the Vice Dean I of FKM USU (Dra. Nurmaini, MKM, Ph.D) met with one of FKM USU's outstanding students, Akhmad Rapiudin, and staff from the student affairs division (Zulhadi Efendi) in the Dean's office, 2nd floor, FKM USU (20/6/2016).

Akhmad Rapiudin, commonly known as Rapi, is a student specializing in Health Education and Behavioral Science at the Faculty of Public Health (FKM) of Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), class of 2012. Currently holding a cumulative GPA (IPK) of 3.75, Rapi has achieved numerous accomplishments at local, national, and international levels, including in writing, public speaking, and traditional dance.

Di bidang public speaking, ia pernah menjadi The 1st Best Essay Presentations, yang diselenggarakan World Universal Peace Federation di Manila Hotel, Philipinnes pada Asian Summit 2015. Dalam kongres pemuda tingkat Internasional itu, Rapi menulis essay dengan tema: “Toward Peace, Security and Human Development in The Asia Pasific Region”.

In public speaking, he was awarded as The 1st Best Essay Presentation at the Asian Summit 2015 in Manila, Philippines, organized by the World Universal Peace Federation. He presented an essay titled "Toward Peace, Security, and Human Development in The Asia Pacific Region" during the International Youth Congress. 

Additionally, he won The 1st Best Art and Cultural Performance at the Philippine-Indonesia Leadership and Cultural Exchange in 2015. He has also served as an active staff member in the arts and culture division of the Student Activity Unit of Public Health of FKM USU.

Despite being from Tangerang, Rapi was chosen as a delegate from North Sumatra in the Indonesian Culture and Nationalism (ICN) 2016 event, held by the Student Board of Universitas Parastiya Mulya. "We can't turn back time, so make it worthwhile by continuously seeking knowledge.," said Rapi.

Rapi, born on June 20, 1994, in Tanggerang, has also served as the head of the Bidikmisi Student Association (GAMADIKSI) USU. He won 1st place in the National Scientific Writing Competition III organized by the Student Executive Board of Public Health of Universitas Andalas Padang and has been actively involved in various organizations and youth forums at local, national, and international levels.

Not only is he active in writing, public speaking, and dancing, but he is also active in social activities. His high social spirit makes him always eager to be beneficial to others. One of them is active as a Direct Project ( head of the executive committee) of the North Sumatra Teaching Movement and one of the active leaders in the work team unit (STK) of the North Sumatra Caring Youth Alliance.

He continued to share his knowledge across the country. “Being useful to others is a gift because the small changes made will have a big impact on Indonesia's education,” said Rapi. To share his inspirational story, Rapi also became one of the best writers in an inspirational book titled “Langkah Tak Beraturan” that was compiled by GAMADIKSI USU. Rapi's inspirational story titled “Langkah Kecil Pemimpi Kampungan” is one of the 20 best inspirational stories written by Bidikmisi scholarship recipients in the inspirational story book titled “20 Kisah Inspiratif Sahabat Bidikmisi Indonesia” compiled by the National Bidikmisi Student and Alumni Association (Permadani Diksi Nasional) together with the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education of the Republic of Indonesia.

“I do come from a poor family, but that doesn't stop me from having a better and brighter future. The most important thing is motivation and hard work to want to progress and excel. Because if we can't be someone to be proud of, how can we make our parents and many people happy?” said Rapi.

Thanks to his many achievements, Rapi received an award from the USU Rectorate in 2015 as an outstanding USU student at the National and International levels given directly by the Rector of USU during the Indonesian Independence Day ceremony. He was never satisfied by his various achievements and strives for more, it was proven that this year he was able to maintain his position as a USU student who excelled at the national and international levels. “There are still many dreams to aim for, and being a useful and accomplished human being is a happiness that makes us more grateful, my biggest hope at the moment is to be able to continue my Masters and Doctoral studies abroad, I dream of being able to study at John Hopkins Medical School in the United States with a full scholarship” said Rapi.

  6. 1st place in the Poetry Writing Competition Dakwah Expo VII in 2014

  7. 1st place in the Scientific Writing Competition in the Qur'an Content MTQ USU in 2014

  8. Finalist in the Islamic Scientific Writing Competition UNNES Islamic Fair in 2014

  9. 1st Place Winner of the National Essay and Short Story Writing Competition at the Al-Qolam Writivation Festival UPI Bandung in 2014

  10. 1st Best Essay Presentation at the Asian Summit 2015, Historic Manila Hotel, Manila, Philippines

  11. 1st Best Art and Cultural Performance at the Indonesia-Philippines Leadership and Cultural Exchange Program 2016, International Peace and Leadership College (IPLC), Tanay Rizal, Philippines, 2015.

  12. 1st Place in the 3rd National Scientific Writing Competition of BEM KM Universitas Andalas Padang 2015.

  13. Delegate of SMNPDN (National Fellowship and Consultation of Permadani Diksi Nasional), Hasanuddin University, Makassar 2015.

  14. Depok Delegate of the Inspiring Youth Leader Forum (IYLF) 2015, Universitas Indonesia, Depok.

  15. Outstanding Student of USU at the National and International Level 2015.

  16. 1st Place in the National Scientific Writing Competition on the Qur'an, Al-Qur'an Study Club (ASC) Universitas Negeri Malang 2016.

  17. 1st Place in the National Green Social Project, Green Youth Camp 2016, Koalisi Pemuda Hijau Indonesia (Kophi) North Sumatra, BP-PAUDNI Medan 2016.

  18. Best Green Friend at the Green Youth Camp 2016, Koalisi Pemuda Hijau Indonesia (Kophi) North Sumatra, BP-PAUDNI Medan 2016.

  19. 1st Place in the National Speech Writing Olympiad, National Forum for the Nation-Building Youth (FPBN) in Jakarta 2016.

  20. 3rd Place in the National Essay Competition, Indonesian Golden Generations Summit 2016, National Working Meeting of Permadani Diksi Nasional 2016, Islamic University of Riau, Pekanbaru.

  21. Selected Delegate as the Cultural Ambassador of North Sumatra Province in the Indonesian Culture and Nationalism event with the Minister of Education of the Republic of Indonesia 2016.

The Dean of FKM USU highly appreciates students who excel in the fields of science, art, and sports. Therefore, she offers full support to students who strive to achieve the highest level of success. "FKM USU will provide assistance as much as possible to students who need support in realizing achievements at the local, national, or international level," said Prof. Dr. Dra. Ida Yustina, M.Si.

At the end of the meeting, Akhmad Rapiudin presented a souvenir book titled "Langkah Tak Beraturan" to the Dean and Vice Dean I of FKM USU. It is hoped that more students from FKM USU will continue to achieve endless success.
